Anime in Shizuoka

Numazu's city station, the gateway to Aqours' world and hub of the show's urban scenes. The area is full of collaborations, character panels and themed shops.

The covered shopping arcade next to the station appears throughout the series. Many shops display Aqours panels and sell collaboration goods; it's the heart of the pilgrimage in town.

A historic 1868 inn on the Mito coast (Uchiura), a registered Cultural Property. In the series it is the home of protagonist Chika Takami; the seaside wooden building facing Mt. Fuji is reproduced almost exactly.

The tourist center for the Uchiura area appears briefly in the series and has become the pilgrims' headquarters, almost entirely taken over by Aqours displays and merchandise.

A small island in Uchiura Bay, with an aquarium, hotel and shrine. In the series it is tied to Mari Ohara and Yoshiko/Yohane; the island's hotel is the model for Mari's mansion.

The school on the Nagaisaki hill in Uchiura is the model for Uranohoshi Girls' High School that Aqours fights to save. Its silhouette overlooking the bay is one of the series' most iconic images.

A hilltop park overlooking Numazu, Suruga Bay and Mt. Fuji. It appears in series materials as the panorama of Aqours' city.

Numazu's fishing port and its large Byūo observatory floodgate appear in the series. It's one of the most recognizable seaside images of Aqours' city.

Itō Station, the gateway to the coastal town Futaba arrives at from Tokyo, and the start of the Izukyū line that runs along the Izu coast in the series.

A real Itō high school that is the model for the fictional Yumegaoka High that Futaba and Pikari attend; even its bus stop is copied from the Itō High bus stop. A working school.

A small Izukyū-line station in the Kawana area, a stretch of diving coast near Itō that appears in the series' journeys and outings.

A 48 m suspension bridge over the lava rocks and rough sea of the Jōgasaki Coast, in Izu Kōgen, beside the Kadowaki lighthouse. One of Izu's most spectacular views, appearing in the series.

An Izukyū-line station on the Izu Kōgen plateau, with its resort atmosphere beside the Jōgasaki Coast. The Izukyū company even issued Amanchu commemorative tickets.

The small Itō Line station in the coastal Kawana district, where the characters arrive and pass through. It appears in the fifth episode of the series.

A historic 1936 cliff-top resort hotel with seaside golf courses. Its elegant architecture served as the model for the 'Izu University' that Iori attends.

A real dive shop and school in Kawana that served as the model for the 'Grand Blue' shop run by Iori's uncle, where he lodges. Fans can actually dive here.

The Kawana fishing port, the departure point for the series' dives and the setting of many seaside scenes.

The sandy town beach in central Itō, along the seafront promenade. It represents the summery beach atmosphere of the Izu coast in the series.

A themed attraction dedicated to the series in the S-Pulse Dream Plaza mall, by Shimizu port. It recreates Maruko's house, her classroom, and scenes from the anime, and is the main pilgrimage spot for fans.

The real elementary school the author Momoko Sakura attended, and the model for the school Maruko and her friends go to. Exterior only.

A park on the ruins of Sunpu Castle in central Shizuoka. It is the setting of the 'Festa Shizuoka' that Maruko visits in volume 11 of the manga.

The Tomoegawa River runs through the Irie neighborhood where Maruko lives and appears in the series' everyday scenes. Chigo Bridge is a recognizable point over the river.

The depot of this Tenryū Hamanako Line station, with its turntable and fan-shaped engine shed, is one of the models for Village 3 in "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0" (2021). It can be seen on the line's guided tours, and since 2023 it has displayed a Spear of Longinus.

Immense open camping meadow on the Asagiri plateau at 830 m altitude, with Fuji filling the horizon and nothing in between. It is the setting of the club's Christmas camp at the end of season one, one of the series' most beloved moments. After airing it became the most famous campground in Japan.
